The Farewell Effect was a Melodic Hardcore and Pop Punk band from Locust Valley, Long Island New York. It disintegrated in the winter of 2007, and emerged in early 2008 as Gabriel the Marine.
Biography[]
The Farewell Effect was started by Mark Herburger (guitar) in 2006 after his former punk band, Local Embarrassment, disbanded. He met Craig Kleila (guitar) from skating, who brought in Dylan Ebrahimian on bass and Elliott Park on guitar and vocals. Iain Browne played drums until Superbowl Sunday of 2006, and afterwards, John Leibold was recruited on drums. The band played shows constantly with this lineup until June of that year, when Elliott left the band to pursue other musical projects (The Clap Track, February Beat Down Story, Cure the Hero).
Dylan took over on vocals, and the band had a rotating position for bass, which included Jon Kurmanchik (of Hope Drive), Elliott Park, and Dylan occasionally if no one else could play. The band entered the studio in the winter of 2006-2007 and recorded their first Demo, Apologies Aren't Bandages with Nick Zinnanti. Afterwards, the band played as many shows around the island as possible, and in the summer of 2007, entered Nick's studio again to complete another demo, however, the band disbanded before the mastering process was done for the demo. The only tracks that remain for this session are, "The Battle of Shaker Heights", "Disappear", and "White Heat" (Version 2). The track "April Showers" has been lost.
The Farewell Effect played their last show with Permanent Me, Big City Lights, The Rivalry, and Destiny or Design in December at the Landmark on Main Street in Port Washington.
